Humanity Foundation was founded in the year 1994, by Sri Pranab Mukerji, the internationally acclaimed photo-journalist, under personal inspiration and advice of none other than Mother Teresa. Sri Mukerji is the president of the foundation, duly registered under the W.B. Societies Act, 19661. The foundation, as a social welfare organisation, having its regd. Office at 60 B, Bondel Road, Kolkata – 700 019, (Ph. No.(033) 2344-9146, Mobile No: +91-9830224843) focussed its attention, from the very beginning, on the Eradication of Leprosy from the country. In an effort to accomplish the mission, the foundation organised from time to time numerous seminars, photo-exhibitions, throughout the country, to generate public awareness about leprosy and thus remove the social stigma, about this dreaded disease, from the public mind. Although, leprosy is the main area of the activities of Humanity Foundation, it performs many other social welfare works, on regular basis. These include, rendering financial assistance to the patients suffering from T.B., Thalassemia, AIDS and other serious ailments, viz. Kidney – transplantation etc. The foundation, time and again rendered finanacial help to the poor meritorious students , promising sports persons. The foundation provided means of livelihood to some Physically-handicapped, poor persons. In fine, Humanity Foundation wants to assert that it will welcome financial support of any magnitude, from the generous members of the public and / or the world of trade, commerce and industry, to enable it expand its human activities and thus reach a wider section of the distressed people.
